Little & Friday – where even water tastes delicious

One Saturday morning, my friend Carolina and I met at the Birkenhead market. As there were only a few stalls, we were around pretty fast.

“So, what’s next?”

“I think we should go for a coffee and a cake. We deserve it.”

“Sounds like a plan! But where should we go? I’ve been in New Zealand for a while and one thing I have been missing are good “cake shops”. There are plenty of good cafes but all most of them offer on a cake side are muffins, brownies, carrot cakes and caramel slices. Hm, yeah, it’s all right, but… nah, that’s boring.”

“No no, I’ve heard of this really good place in Belmont. We have to go and check it out.”

“Belmont? We are not far, but do we really feel like driving? Hm, I don’t know…”

“C’mon, we’ve got not much else to do. Get your lazy bum in the car!”

That Sunday morning, my life has changed. As I arrived to Little & Friday, I felt like I have just discovered Heaven! Cakes, donuts, pies, savouries, juices, even water served in little glass milk bottles with mint and cinnamon is worth a go :).

After that day, every weekend I am in Auckland, somehow I pass by Little & Friday. I have told every single friend of mine about it, and even people I don’t know. The chocolate beetroot cake with salty caramel is my all time favourite! And not just food, the whole ambience is really neat, relaxed and welcoming, even though it is always crowded there. I am their fan!
